ENGLISH SUMMARY
Abdurehim Otkur
Abdurehim Otkur was one of the most widely read Uyghur writers of the twentieth century, often called the father of modern Uyghur poetry. Born in Qumul in 1923, he is remembered above all for the historical novels Iz ("Tracks") and Oyghanghan Zémin ("The Awakened Land"), which reconstruct the Uyghur uprisings of the early 1900s, and for poetry collections such as Qeshqer Kéchisi and Ömür Menzilliri. He was imprisoned for his support of the Three Districts Revolution and barred from publishing for decades before his rehabilitation in the 1980s. He died in Ürümchi in 1995.
