ENGLISH SUMMARY
Nimshehit
Nimshehit — a pen name meaning "half-martyr" — was born in 1904 in Sayram, in Bay County near Aksu. He studied at a madrasa in Kucha and later at the Khanliq Medrese in Kashgar, then a centre of learning. Wounded during the national uprising in Kashgar in 1933, he took the name Nimshehit in reference to surviving that wound. In October 1945 he joined the National Army of the East Turkistan Republic as it advanced on Aksu and went on to Ghulja. He suffered severe persecution during the Cultural Revolution and died on 24 August 1971.
